Medbox
A medical storage system designed to improve the user's home healthcare experience.
The Problem
Current Medical storage solutions are less than ideal: even the most organized households find themselves defaulting to the same plastic storage we use for everything.

My goal was to design a product made specifically for medical storage, that fixed common problems users had with their current medical storage methods and home healthcare.
User Research
“how many [pills]? That’s terrifying.”
Takes 12 different pills in the morning and at night. Weekly injections for oldest kid. Loads pills into weekly containers in the morning while drinking tea. Routine is important: last night was visiting relatives and forgot to take any meds that night.

“I used to use a pill container, but had trouble keeping up with putting the pills in it ahead of each week"
If there were some very effortless way to track whether I’ve taken my medications or not also would be helpful, because sometimes I’ll wake up and be getting up and forget whether or not I just took them.”
Lev, ASU Student
System is a little messy, requires some rummaging.
“Should have dividers.”
Dividers should be adjustable because you don’t know what size products are going to be, sometimes same products come in different sizes.

Ideation
Based on my user interviews and research I did on medical storage products, I brainstormed different functions I wanted the product to include.
Based on these, I designed a form that stood out as an improvement on other medical storage on the market- a modular storage system that gave users the opportunity to customize a medical routine that fit their specific needs.
The Medbox utilizes both traditional phone alarms, and a visual reminder system as shown above. As the time the user needs to take their meds gets closer, the top portion of the box glows more intensely in whichever color the user set it to.
